Chippa suffer striker injury setback

SEPTEMBER 14, 2016

Chippa United striker, Rhulani Manzini, has been ruled out for six weeks after sustaining a foot injury in their 0-0 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semi-finals encounter at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.

The Chilli Boys’ striker fractured his fifth metatarsal and was replaced by Tshwarelo Bereng shortly after the interval of the semi-final. He will now miss the return fixture against the Sundowns for the MTN8 semi-final decider, as well as league matches against SuperSport United on September 14th and Baroka FC on September 28th.

Mark Anderson, Chippa physio, said that they are not yet 100% sure whether the injury it is a new fracture or if is on the same bone as last season’s injury.

Chippa will play the return back-to-back fixture against Sundowns on September 21st in Pretoria.
