Chippa United are racist - Sikhakhane

BY NATALI IVERSON - JANUARY 9, 2015

Former Chippa United head coach, Roger Sikhakhane, has accused the club’s bosses of being racist, claiming that he was fired from his position due to his skin colour.

Sikhakhane signed with the Chilli Boys in 2014 on a three year contract, taking the side from relegation candidates, to the top eight of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) this season.

United bosses sacked the 39 year-old coach last week in order to bring in former Bloemfontein Celtic coach, Ernst Middledorp.

"They did not believe in us black coaches. When things went bad, they shifted the blame on me. They wanted to see me fail.

“I'm not against the appointment of Middendorp but I could see that they wanted me out and that they wanted him to take over,” Sikhakhane said, citing club Chief Executive, Peter Koutroulis and Technical Director, Mich D'Avary, as the main instigators.

“Middendorp was always on Peter’s [tongue, even when he was still at [Bloemfontein] Celtic. They [Koutroulis and D'Avary] were not happy that we were winning and tried to sabotage us," he said.
