Chippa United re-hire Peter Koutroulis as club CEO

Peter Koutroulis, former Chippa United CEO, has been re-appointed for his position as CEO at the club this month.

Koutroulis has more than 25 years of football administrative experience, after having formally been a General Manager at Mamelodi Sundowns, Thanda Royal Zulu and Mpumalanga Black Aces.

The newly appointed CEO originally left Chippa at the end of last season and had returned to the Port Elizabeth-based club this time for his second stint.

Chippa United Chairman, Siviwe Mpengesi, told KickOff that the appointment came at the back-drop of stabilising the club as a whole, after having already appointed a permanent coach.

“Mr. Koutroulis was our preferred candidate. We were looking for a person familiar with the culture of the club but also experienced to continue with the work we have done during the course of this season.” Mpengesi said.

He added that Koutroulis is well-equipped for the position, due to his vast amount of experience in football, which can add to the club’s continued evolution.

Koutroulis emphasized that he is delighted to be back in the swing of duty at Chippa United.

“The club has incredible potential to be fulfilled both on and off the field and that makes this opportunity absolutely compelling. Mr. Mpengesi’s passion for football is second to none and I am looking forward supporting his vision and to make a contribution working with everyone down in Port Elizabeth,” Koutroulis said.

In addition, Koutroulis had extended a thankful token of appreciation to the Board for vote of confidence.

“It is clear that there has been huge progress since the last time I was here and I am looking forward being part of the team again,” added Koutroulis.
