Chippa United sign Malesela on three-year contract

Chippa United have announced that Head Coach, Dan Malesela, has signed a three-year deal with the Eastern Cape club.

Malesela took over from then-Coach Roger Sikhakhane in December 2015, who he was originally assistant coach to. Malesela then took reign when Sikhakhane got suspended before vacating the post.

Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi, Chippa United Chairman, told Kick-Off that he is happy to reward the coach a contractual position since taking over.

“He is a man of principle, who lives and breathes the game. He exceeded beyond expectations and fulfilled his mandate to keep the team in the Premier Soccer League,” Mpengesi said.

Mpengesi emphasized that the team is playing an exciting brand of football and that this contract was to reward him for the hard work that he has put into the side the last couple of months.

In addition, Coach Malesela also said to Kick-Off that he is pleased with the amount of support he is getting from all sectors at the club.

“The team is making progress but we cannot rest on our laurels. I am humbled and grateful of the support I have received from fans in and around the Eastern Cape and during our away matches,” added Malesela.

The Chilli Boys succumbed to a 2-2 draw against Maritzburg United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday. They remain sixth on the ABSA Premiership standings after 23 matches.

Their following ABSA Premiership fixture is against SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on April 10th.
