Chippa United's Mthiyane linked with move To Orlando Pirates

BY MARC JACOBSON - FEBRUARY 11, 2016

The Orlando Pirates may look to secure the services of Chippa United left-back, Nkosinathi Mthiyane, in a bid to bolster their squad.

The Buccaneers may aim to bolster their squad particularly on defence where both of their current centre-backs in Siyabonga Sangweni and Rooi Mahamutsa are coming of age, with the need of fresh reinforcement.

If Mthiyane is included in the Pirates’ roster, he will compete with Patrick Phungwayo for the left-back position, of which is currently occupied by interim captain, Thabo Matlaba. Mthiyane has the advantage of being a utility player as he is able to play on midfield and defence and can be used at left or right wing.

Several of Chippa United’s key players have been linked with moves elsewhere as the club plunges deeper into financial turmoil. This was followed by their failure to pay monthly salaries and signing on bonuses.

Mthiyane has been a regular for the Chilli Boys of recent, having featured in 17 of the 18 matches that the club has played this season.
