Christopher Panayiotou expected in Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court

APRIL 18, 2016

Port Elizabeth businessman, Christopher Panayiotou, and his two co-accused, alleged triggerman, Sizwezakhe Vumazonke, and Sinethemba Nemembe are expected in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Panayiotou and his co-accused appeared in the same court last month in connection with the murder of Jayde Panayiotou, formerly Inggs, who was killed in April last year.

The trio stand accused of the planning and executing a faked hijacking that resulted in the death of loved Port Elizabeth teacher and Panayiotou's wife, Jayde in April 2015.

It is alleged that Panayiotou paid Luthando Siyoli, 31, a bouncer at his nightclub in Algoa Park, R75 000 to hire a hitman Vumazonke, 30, for the murder. Late in October last year, Sinethemba Nenembe, 28, who is related to Vumazonke, was also linked to the case.

Siyoli has since turned State witness.

To date, the case has suffered numerous postponements. Read more on the case, click HERE.

Som developments so far

Hannelie Bakker,  a former Deputy Director of Prosecutions in the Eastern Cape, is apparently to represent alleged hitman, Vumazonke.

Peter Daubermann, who was representing, Nenembe, is also apparently withdrawing from the case after the accused indicated he now wants legal aid.
