Clean Audit for MBDA for Second Year in a Row

JANUARY 20, 2015

The Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA) has achieved a clean audit for the second year in succession.

In his report, the AG said the financial statements of the MBDA “present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the MBDA as at June 2014 and their financial performance and cash flows for the year then ended, in accordance with the SA Standards of Generally Recognised Accounting Practice (GRAP) and the requirements of the Municipal Finance Management Act and Companies Act”.

In his General Report on the Audit Outcomes of Local Government 2013/13 published last year, the AG stated that the MBDA was the only municipal entity “that has sustainable governance controls and a control environment supporting continued clean administration and good governance.

“This environment enhances the credibility of information used for enforcing accountability.
