Cradock man busted with illegal firearm and stolen goods worth R100 000

Members of the Cradock Public Order Policing (POP) unit, in conjunction with Crime Intelligence, on Sunday arrested a 33 year-old male after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and stolen property to the value of R100 000 in a residence in Lingelihle, Cradock.

"Information was received about the alleged stolen firearm and stolen property.  When officers arrived at the house they found the man and upon executing the search warrant the fire arm, ammunition and stolen property to the value of R100 000 were found inside the house," said police spokesperson, Capt Stefanie Smith.

"The suspect will appear before the Cradock Magistrate’s Court on 10 May 2016 on a charge of Possession of unlicensed fire arm and ammunition and Possession of stolen property."

Brig Madoda Zamkana, Cluster Commander of the Cradock Cluster, has reiterated that the SAPS are committed to fighting crime and in ensuring that the community are and feel safe.
