Cradock SAPS investigating gruesome murder of six-year-old boy

Cradock SAPS are investigating the gruesome murder of a six-year-old boy, Eastern Cape police said on Wednesday. The boy's body was found in the backyard of an open premise in Lingelihle, Cradock, on Tuesday.

"It is alleged that on the afternoon of the 19th of January 2015, the boy was playing with a friend when they were approached by an unknown person offering them food.

"The friend ran away and informed the victim’s parents, who started searching for the boy’s whereabouts. When they could not find him, they reported him missing at the local police station," police said.

"The body of a boy fitting the description of the missing boy was found in the backyard of open premises used by the community as a pass-through earlier today, 20 January 2015 at about 10:00.

"The body sustained several stab wounds to the back. No arrest has been made yet and investigation is underway."

The Cradock police are appealing to anyone with information to please come forward and assist the investigating officer so that the person responsible for this heinous deed can be brought to book.
