Cricket Eastern Cape (Pty) Ltd appoints team Physiotherapist


After a lengthy appointment process Cricket Eastern Cape (Pty) Ltd (Warriors) has appointed Cliffe Deacon as the franchise Physiotherapist. The appointment is a 2-year contract and Deacon will join the Warriors on 1 September 2016.

Cliffe has extensive cricket experience having played at franchise level as well as club cricket both locally and overseas. He qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2004 and worked at various practices in Johannesburg before starting his own practice in 2013.

His cricketing career spans some 15 years having played franchise cricket for the Eagles (now the Knights) and the Lions. He has played 88 Frist Class, 107 Limited overs and 44 T20 matches.

He has been working with the CSA Academy and the Momentum Women’s Protea team over the last few months. His physiotherapy experience is not only cricket related having also worked with the Gauteng Invitational Rugby Team, Wits Rugby Team and various school teams.

“We are very happy to have Cliffe on board at the Warriors franchise. He has a wealth of cricket experience and has spent a number of years in sports related physiotherapy. He will add tremendous value to the team both on and off the field and we look forward to welcoming him to the Eastern Cape," said CEO Jesse Chellan.
