Dagga bust lands Lorraine man behind bars

Port Elizabeth police have confirmed the arrest of a 53-year old man from Lorraine in connection with a drug bust at his home on Thursday.

In a statement, police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said two officers from the city’s flying squad and one from the Mount Road Crime Prevention Unit, reacted on a tip-off about possible drug activity at a house in Trevor Street.

Naidu said an investigation of the home turned up 2.9 kg of dagga, which also included 100 plants, worth an estimated street value of R58 000. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with cultivating and dealing in dagga.
