De Sa wary of Pirates

JULY 29, 2015

Ahead of their season opener against the in-form Orlando Pirates, Ajax Cape Town head coach Roger De Sa believes that his youthful team will have to do something extra special to beat the Buccaneers in their own backyard.

The Urban Warriors and the Buccaneers will square-off in the MTN8 quarter-finals at the Orlando stadium on Tuesday, August 4.

“It’s going to be a very tough game for us," said De Sa.

The former Pirates and Bidvest Wits mentor is also aware of the Soweto giants’ current form in the CAF Confederations Cup.

“Pirates are a team in good rhythm at the moment and they are doing extremely well in Africa once again.

“They are playing good football at the moment and everyone can see that.

“So I believe that it will be tough for us because we also don’t have a good record against Pirates at Orlando stadium.

“But for us to win there we’ll have to do something special.”

The last time the two sides met in a cup competition was in the Telkom Knock-Out last 8 in the previous campaign with the Buccaneers walking away 4-1 victors.
