Dead Lesotho soldier found at border between Lesotho and SA near Maluti

Joint efforts between Search and Rescue members, Lesotho police, SANDF, SAPS, the Lesotho Defence Force and Military Intelligence and Special Task Force led to the recovery of the body of a Lesotho soldier in the mountains bordering Lesotho and South Africa, near Maluti, in the Eastern Cape, on Wednesday.

According to Eastern Cape police, the body was found by members of SANDF and NIU while the search and rescue members conducted the recovery of the body with the assistance of a Lesotho Defence Force chopper.

“Role-players involved included Lesotho Police, SANDF, SAPS, Lesotho Defence Force and Military Intelligence and Special Task Force,” police said.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Ntshinga, visited the scene and commended the team for their efforts.
