Despatch residents can expect water supplies this afternoon: Metro

JUNE 29, 2015

Residents in certain areas of Despatch, who have been experiencing a water supply interruption since Sunday, should have supplies restored this afternoon, according to the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.

"This interruption was caused by damage to water mains by a contractor undertaking construction work in Khyamnandi. This caused one of our reservoirs to run dry," said Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Director of Communications, Roland Williams, in a statement.

"The pipeline is currently being repaired by a technical team and a contractor.

"The Municipality has provided five water tankers to provide interim relief to the affected residents up to eleven o’ clock tonight. It is expected that the water supply will be restored to the affected areas this afternoon."

He said that the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused to the residents of Despatch.
