Drugs and stolen goods worth R200 000 seized in Algoa Park

FEBRUARY 12, 2015

A joint intelligence driven operation conducted on Tuesday at Kudu Flats, Sidwell, in Port Elizabeth, by the Algoa Park Tactical Response Team and Algoa Park SAPS yielded success, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.

“The focus of the operation was on drugs, the illegal sale of liquor and stolen property,” the police said.

“The operation yielded positive results with seven (7) suspects arrested.  Drugs, stolen property and liquor to the value of approximately R200 000 was confiscated during the operation.”

The suspects will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates Court for first appearance on Thursday on charges of:

  • Dealing in drugs
  • Possession of drugs
  • Possession of suspected stolen property:
  • Selling liquor without a license

“The SAPS believes that an arrest of any suspect(s), where suspected stolen property is recovered is a dent in the supply/demand of stolen property.

“The SAPS is appealing to the community members who have been victims of house breakings and house robberies to come and identify their belongings. They are urged to bring along a copy of ID and serial numbers of the belongings,” the police said.
