Dutywa armed robber shoots himself dead, three accomplices arrested

Dutywa police on Saturday afternoon arrested three suspects, aged between 21 and 28 years-old, for armed business robbery while a fourth suspect, aged 27 years-old, shot and killed himself when they were cornered by police at Vonqo Location, in Bholothwa Village, Dutywa.

According to the police, they were alerted about the robbery in progress at shop owned by a Bangladesh national. They quickly responded and cornered the suspects.

“The 27 year-old suspect pulled his firearm and shot himself dead.

"He was out on bail on robbery cases and the other suspects were arrested,” described police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

He added that the firearm had four rounds of ammunition and the deceased was identified - but his identity will withheld until his next of kin has been informed of his death.

The arrested suspects will appear before the Dutywa Magistrate Court on Monday on charges of business robbery.
