Dutywa man makes brief court appearance for allegedly killing girlfriend

A 24-year-old Dutywa man, Lwazi Dlisani, briefly appeared before the Dutywa Magistrate's Court on Wednesday after being arrested by police over the weekend for allegedly killing his girlfriend.

"He was not asked to plead and his case was remanded to Monday, for his criminal profile," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"The deceased was identified as 24-year-old Phezisa Bokolo."

Dlisani is alleged to have committed the murder on Sunday, at about 23:00, at Chizela Village, Dutywa.

According to Captain Manatha, Bokolo was "stabbed with a bottle kop on her upper body, kicked with booted feet and also assaulted with fists".

"The deceased died at the scene. The motive for the murder is not known.

"Police were alerted about the murder and they rushed to the scene of crime," he said.

Dlisani was arrested by police at the scene of the crime and charged with murder.

Acting Butterworth Cluster Commander, Colonel Sipho Hokwana condemned the murder.
