NOVEMBER 3, 2015

A stepfather was on Friday sentenced to two life terms by the East London Magistrates' Court after the court convicted him of raping and murdering his stepdaughter.

According to Eastern Cape police, Mbulelo Kubusi (31) was found guilty of raping and murdering his 14-year-old stepdaughter, in the bushes near Mount Ruth railway station, in September 2014.

"It is alleged that, this was a form of revenge by the accused after, the deceased mother left him for another man," the police said.

"A case was opened at Vulindlela Police Station. The investigation led to the suspect being arrested shortly after the incident took place.

New Mdantsane Cluster Commander, Major General Andrew Swarts welcomed the sentence; “ I would  like to thank the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Xolile Mbidlana for a thorough investigation in this case.

"This sentence will send a strong message to merciless men, not to abuse and kill women.
