MAY 13, 2016

Eastern Cape police on Friday announced that fugitive Asanda Mzondi Loliwe, 24 years, has been arrested for the alleged murder of his former girlfriend, Bongiwe Mbomvu, at Komga, outside East London, in 2014. Mzondi Loliwe subsequently fled his home, went into hiding and has been evading police since then.

"The suspect was arrested in the Komga area last Saturday and appeared before the Komga Magistrate’s Court on Monday facing a charge of murder," said police spokesperson, Captain Mluleki Mbi.

"He was denied bail and his case was remanded to the 31st of May."

Komga Station Commander, Captain Zanekhaya Kana, commended the members for the breakthrough.

“We will continue to hunt down murderers and anyone involved in criminal activities without hesitation and bring them before our courts to face-up to their callous deeds,” he added.
