East London police appeal for leads following armed robbery at Hemingways Mall

Police in East London have opened an investigation after four men entered a robbed a jewellery store at Hemingways Mall, East London, on Saturday morning.

It is alleged that, at about 09:30 in the morning, the suspects entered the store a threatened the staff and smashed the display glass.

“The suspects fled with a large quantity of jewellery, and the value is yet to be tallied,” said police spokesperson, Captain Mluleki Mbi.

He added that two customers who were inside the store suffered minor injuries to their hands and feet due broken glass.

Police have since appealed to anyone, who have information that might lead to the arrest of the suspects to please come forward.

“Anyone with information is requested to contact the police on 10111 or Cambridge detectives on 043 709 7500," said Captain Mbi.
