East London police arrest five for dealing in dagga

Duncan Village SAPS arrested five suspects aged between 23 and 54, after they were found in possession and dealing in dagga on Sunday and Monday in Duncan Village, near East London.

The police confiscated 6.5 kg of dagga, with estimated street value of R6 500, and undisclosed amount of cash from the suspects.

Duncan Village SAPS members were conducting crime prevention patrols when they came across the suspects. Four of the suspects were arrested in C-Section while one suspect was from Duncan Village Proper.

The suspects will appear in the East London Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, 18 March 2015, facing charges of possession and dealing in dagga.

The Station Commander of Duncan Village SAPS, Colonel Piet Bellingan commended the members involved for the arrest.

“Fighting the illegal drug trade is a priority and we will do everything to ensure that perpetrators are brought to book,” he said.
