East London police seek public help in locating witnesses in unsolved murders

Cambridge Detectives are appealing to the community to solve outstanding murders, which occurred in the Reeston area, East London.

"A 22 year-old, Siyanda Tyopo, was stabbed to death outside a tavern in Reeston on 24 November 2012.  Bonakele Henana, then a 22 year-old, was arrested and charged with his murder.

"The witnesses, Sivuyile Sitwaku and Khanyisa Malangeni, now cannot be traced from their last known addresses to testify before court, their last known address was Dice Street in Reeston," said police spokesperson Captain Mluleki Mbi.   

In another case, a 27 year-old Akhona Ngcayivuthwa was murdered on 2 September 2012 at Rena’s Farm in Reeston, East London. 

"Siyakholwa Ndamase, then 19 years of age, was arrested and charged with his murder.  Police are looking for a witness, Mzimkhulu Maliwa, whose last known address was Thembalethu in Reeston," said Cpt Mbi.

In a case, which appears to be of road rage where a 46 year-old Fanisile Somhaya was chased and hit by a car at Rena’s Farm in Reeston on 21 July 2013, he later died of his injuries in hospital. Bonginkosi Mvolontiya, then 23 years of age, was arrested and charged with murder.  Police are looking for a witness, Thulani Zonke, to make contact with them for court appearance.

"On 2 March 2013, a 20 year-old Ayanda Mhlawuli was stabbed to death at Hutchison Street, Reeston, East London. Police arrested and charged Azola Mdingi with his murder. Qhama Mgoqi was asked to contact the police to finalize this case. Police are also looking for the driver, who is said to have transported the deceased to Frere Hospital," added Cpt Mbi.

"All the above cases have been before the East London Magistrate's Court and unable to proceed due to unavailability of these witnesses and appeal to anyone, who may know the whereabouts of these witnesses to contact the Cambridge SAPS on 043-7097500 or Detective Sgt Zukile Soli on 071 981 7709."
