East London’s Frere Hospital joins social networking

The MEC for Health in the Eastern Cape, Dr Pumza Dyantyi, recently launched an official website and Facebook page for the Frere Hospital in East London, which will be used by the hospital to connect with the community.

The hospital is hoping to use social media to inform the public about its facilities, as well as to improve the quality of healthcare services.

“Through these platforms we are confident that we will not only improve our communication with our patient and stakeholder, but also positive that these will also serve as useful platforms for patients to express their service experience,” Dr Dyantyi told Go&Express.

Frere Hospital CEO, Rolene Wagner said that the hospital is determined to offer patient-centred care and give the community a positive experience when visiting them.

“The website is an opportunity to engage with patients and colleagues overseas around health care issues. It is also part of their strategy to improve the organisational goals– the first one being the patient-centred care and the second one being to improve the operational performance,” she said.

Visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/frerehospital or their website at www.fh.echealth.gov.za to see all of the institution’s key services and other relevant information.
