Eastern Cape cop arrested for the murder of colleague

An Eastern Cape police man is being charged with the murder of another police man who was found dead over the weekend. The deceased, identified as 28-year-old Constable Andile Nojekwa, was off-duty when he was murdered.

His body was found early Saturday evening by members of the community near Bethel College between Butterworth and Centane with several gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body, according to Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

The motive for the murder is not known.

"I can confirm that a 37-year old police official handed himself over to local detectives for the alleged murder of Andile Nojekwa.

"He has since been charged with murder and his due to appear in the Butterworth Magistrates court on the 10th of March," said Manatha.
