This was the assurance given to residents and business by Kouga Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Elza van Lingen, after concern was raised that municipal cashiers operated at awkward times for those who are at work or out of town during the week.
“Although paying one’s account at the municipal pay-point is regarded as more reassuring, we have reliable and reputable partners right across the country where residents can make their payments and thus avoid paying interest or disconnections,” said van Lingen.
The Mayor added that only those outlets listed on the municipal account issued by the municipality should be used and residents should ensure that they are issued a receipt when making payments.
These outlets are the Post Office, pay@, Ackermans, Shoprite/Checkers/Usave, Spar, Pick n Pay, PEP Stores, EasyPay, My eBills and Boxer.
“Another option would be to visit the Income Section at the municipal offices and arrange for a debit order to be made by the municipality, depending on the nature of debt that needs to be serviced,” she added.
Residents can also make Electronic Fund Transfers, with the payer’s municipal account numbers filled in as reference. This option is one of the most convenient as it can be done from the comfort of one’s home or workplace.
The municipality’s account details are contained on the accounts issued to residents.
For payment options and further account inquiries, residents can call the Income Section on 042 200 2200 or email the Manager: Income, Ria van Heerden, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
