EFF says yes to Parli move

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has voiced its support for the moving of Parliament to Pretoria as a way of cutting costs.

This follows after President Jacob Zuma announced in his State of the Nation Address (SONA) last Thursday that government would be looking into the possibility of relocating Parliament from Cape Town, in an attempt to reduce costs such as limiting MP’s need for two houses and two cars.

In a statement, EFF national spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said while its supports the announcement, it should not be viewed as “another opportunity to squander state resources and to enrich politically connected individuals”.

Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille has however blasted the recommendation, saying a cut down in cabinet ministers and rationalisation of Parliament would help save costs.
