Eleven arrested, several firearms and ammunition seized


Eleven suspects are expected in court soon after they were busted by Mthatha police, working with their counterparts in Port St John's, for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

"Four suspects, aged between 26 and 35 years, were arrested at Megacom, in Libode, after they were found in possession of four illegal firearms and ammunition yesterday, 31 August 2016," police said.

"Three suspects, aged between 27 and 56 years, were also arrested at Lusikisiki Nkunzimbini Locality and Mthontsasa after they were found in possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, an AK 47 rifle with 25 rounds of ammunition, an R5 rifle with 32 rounds of ammunition and a .38 revolver special with three rounds of ammunition were seized."
