EP Kings reshuffle the backline
Eastern Province coach, Carlos Spencer, has had to reshuffle his side’s positions for their upcoming Currie Cup match against the Free State Cheetahs at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.
With Tim Whitehead suffering a calf strain during the game against the Blue Bulls last weekend, the Kings backline has had to be repositioned.
Ronnie Cooke will move to outside centre from wing, with a returning Siyanda Grey, taking the position of wing.
Ntabeni Dukisa will be starting as the team’s other wing, while Siviwe Soyizwapi will be replacing Scott van Breda as fullback.
"We only wanted to make one change to the backline, but Tim's calf strain meant we had to shuffle a few positions," Spencer said.
"We have also replaced Scott van Breda with Shakes Soyizwapi at fullback, but I do not want to go into the reasons for that in the media."
Between the forwards, hooker Edgar Marutlulle and lock David Bulbring, are out due to injury and have been replaced by Martin Ferreira and Darron Nell.
Tom Botha will be returning to the front row, as CJ Van Der Linde will be on the bench.
EP Kings team:
Siviwe Soyizwapi, Siyanda Grey, Ronnie Cooke, Shane Gates, Ntabeni Dukisa, Gary van Aswegen, Kevin Luiters, Paul Schoeman, Devin Oosthuizen, Shaun McDonald, Darron Nell, Steven Sykes, Tom Botha, Martin Ferreira, Lizo Gqoboka.
