ESCAPE THE WORKPLACE: Misty Mountain Reserve – the perfect destination for memorable corporate retreats
Today, most businesses and companies understand the benefits of outdoor staff retreats and team-building activities like improved morale, communication and teamwork. No doubt, group outdoor activities allow staff to let down their hair and have a good time for hours of fun and laughter.
Nestled in the scenic Tsitsikamma, which is well-known for its outdoor activities and adventures - from adrenaline pumping zip-lining to more sedate forest walks, Misty Mountain Reserve is the ideal venue for corporate group retreats.
At only 1.5 hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth, the venue allows guests to enjoy fresh air and nature. While Misty Mountain offers a few ‘in-house’ activities - including scenic walks, Black Bass fishing, birding and mountain biking, there are numerous activities within close proximity like canopy tours, bungee jumping, scuba diving in the nearby Tsitsikamma National Park and so much more.
Your correspondent found the reserve to also have great yet affordable conferencing facilities. The conference room was supplied with flipcharts, notepads and pens, mineral water, tables and chairs and can accommodate 24 cinema-style or 24 at tables. Projectors, sound equipment and other items can be arranged by order.
Having visited Misty Mountain on a number of occasions, I can vouch for their efficient, friendly service as well as their delicious country-styled buffet meals, breakfasts and dinners. I found the restaurant and adjacent pub great for post-conference entertainment.
Overnight accommodation can be booked in any of Misty Mountain’s affordable eight luxury lodges that sleep nine single guests (or four couples and nine singles sharing). The adjacent Dolphin View, a 3-Star lodge, can accommodate a further five singles or 10 couples making a maximum of 27 guests.
The neatly furnished chalets come standard with heating for those cold winter nights while the kitchen was well-stocked with the necessary cutlery, crockery and other cooking conveniences that make a self-catering stay very comfortable. Each room also has DSTV entertainment.
Every chalet opens onto an enormous lawn that slopes down to the thickly-forested Tsitsikamma National Park and the wide Indian Ocean horizon beyond. I remember recently spending many hours watching a pair of Humpback Whales jumping clean out the ocean and then falling back with a majestic splash from my chalet’s veranda.
For any business looking to improve staff interaction and boosting morale affordably, Misty Mountain Reserve, where nature is always at your service, is a great place to start the process. Call 042 280 3699 or email [email protected] to book your event today.
