Eskom apologises over unexpected blackout

Power utility Eskom has apologised to consumers after it was forced to implement unexpected stage one load shedding last night.

In a series of tweets, the state-owned parastatal said that a number of its generating units experienced technical faults, leading to a decline in electricity and the need for controlled rolling blackouts. It has however indicated that no load shedding is expected for Tuesday but warned that the national grid remains constrained.
