Eskom: High probability of evening load shedding

AUGUST 4, 2015

Eskom on Tuesday said that the power system was stable in the morning allowing it to perform maintenance without load shedding.

“However, as a result of increased electricity demand in the evening and power generating units being on maintenance, the power system is expected to be constrained during the evening peak period (5pm – 9pm),” the power utility warned.

“As we are currently experiencing cold weather conditions across the country, we urge electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm.”

On Monday, Eskom implemented Stage 2 load shedding from 17:00hrs to 22:00hrs.

Eskom appealed to consumers to continue to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day and to be aware of the need to save more during the peak periods, which are from 6am to 10am and 5pm to 9pm.
