Eskom Imposes Rolling Blackouts For 6th Day

Eskom implemented rolling blackouts on Friday, the sixth straight day of power cuts to hit Africa's most advanced economy.

On Friday, tweeted: "Power Alert: Eskom willl implement stage 1 load shedding from 06:00 this morning until 22:00 tonight."

South Africa is in the middle of its worst electricity crisis since 2008 and its citizens are subjected to frequent controlled blackouts, which Eskom implements to prevent the grid from collapsing.

On Thursday, Eskom implemented stage 1 load shedding in the morning which was escalated into stage 2 from around 6pm.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Eskom was forced to escalate its load shedding to Stage 3.
