Etzebeth possibly out for Chiefs match

BY NATALI IVERSON - MARCH 10, 2015

DHL Western Province Stormers coach, Allister Coetzee, is worried about the availability of lock, Eben Etzebeth for this week’s Super Rugby match.

"Lock Eben Etzebeth took a bang on his shoulder against the Sharks which has affected his previous (chest) injury a bit, which is normal for two injuries in such close proximity. He is a bit uncomfortable and a call will be made on his participation later this week," a statement on the Stormers official website said.

Etzebeth was side-lined for the entire 2014 Super Rugby season due to an ankle injury, and missed the first three matches of this year's campaign, following a chest injury, which he sustained during the pre-season.

Stormer’s flanker, Mike Rhodes, will definitely be missing this weekend’s match, after he injured his knee during the 22-19 win against the Emirates Golden Lions on the 28th of February.

After missing last Saturday’s match against the Cell C Sharks, Coetzee has said that he will not risk Rhodes this weekend either.

The Stormers will next be facing the Chiefs at DHL Newlands on Saturday afternoon.
