Expectationally elegant: Enjoy a rare blend of executive comfort and style at 36 on Bonza

BY GRAEME LUND - MAY 28, 2015

East London is a vibrant metropolis of contrasts - on one hand; it is a pleasantly laid back leisure destination and on the other, it is a booming city bolstered by the second largest industrial hub in the Eastern Cape.

However, whether you are a leisure or business traveller (or both), there is only one place from which to enjoy everything this city has on offer - 36 on Bonza Boutique Guest House, which is situated along Bonza Bay Road, in the upmarket Beacon Bay suburb, just ten minutes from the East London CBD and airport and within easy reach of all the city’s tourist attractions.

From arrival to departure, you are treated like their only guest - whether it is your first stay or your millionth. Their staff are friendly, caring, efficient and at your every beck and call. I know this because I have stayed at 36 on Bonza on several leisure and business trips.

During my stays, I have always been welcomed by the hotel’s management, which you will not find at many establishments nowadays. A welcome touch, is the complimentary water on arrival and Wedgewood nougats, which get replenished daily!

The 4-Star, two-storey boutique guesthouse comprises ten luxury suites, each individually furbished in invigorating splashes of colour and stylish design. The rooms are equipped with either Queen-sized, twin or King-size beds with crisp, white, percale linen. All rooms have a flat-screen TV with DSTV, a fridge, toaster, kettle, sink, cutlery and crockery. Thoughtful extras include a lock-up laptop drawer and safe, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning.

Outside, a serene Koi pond welcomes you as you step out of your car and onto the entrance bridge.

There are two bar areas, one inside the dining room for those colder evenings and then my personal favourite, a lovely lounging bar area at their sparkling blue pool, perfect for unwinding during those hot summer evenings.

The Guesthouse offers dinners from Monday to Thursday evenings, which should be confirmed by midday. Alternately, there are numerous take-away facilities and restaurants within the Beacon Bay area.

Breakfast at 36 on Bonza is a scrumptious affair. On the menu are cereals, fruit salads, muffins and fruit juice for starters, plus a full English breakfast on offer, which can be enjoyed with freshly-ground Miko coffee and exotic teas.

I am unable to fault this establishment, it is just superb! 36 on Bonza does live up to its reputation of a truly LUXURIOUS boutique guesthouse! They also cater for small, informal corporate breakfasts and lunches.
