Fall in love with the French-styled buffet at The Boardwalk’s Bayside Pantry

FEBRUARY 4, 2016

Famous for rich tastes and subtle nuances, French cuisine is a special cultural experience that delights all senses. Melting together flavourful, nutritious and fresh foods with beautiful presentation, French food is sometimes sophisticated and sometimes rustic, but always tasteful and always an experience.

Food explorers can journey the diverse and undeniably romantic flavours of France every Wednesday night in February at The Bayside Pantry at The Boardwalk where the already extensive buffet will be decorated with authentic French dishes.

“Being the month of love, The Bayside Pantry is fittingly featuring the rich and romantic flavours of France in February. Diners will simply fall in love with the sumptuous selection,” says Megan Capoto, Promotions Coordinator for food and beverage at The Boardwalk.

To start there is a choice of hearty French soups such as Soup au potiron (pumpkin soup) and Garbure as well as specially prepared salads such as the Salade de pommes de terre (French potato salad) and the slow roasted tomato salad with French beans and feta.

Other French classics on the buffet include Sautéed lambs liver, potatoes with onions and fine beans; Grilled pork rashers a la creole; Grilled aubergine with tarragon butter and capers and Aligot (mash potato with cheese and garlic). At the carvery station, diners can indulge in delicious meats such as Honey and French mustard glazed gammon; Provencal roast chicken and Orange glazed chicken thighs.

Soul warming hot pots and casseroles to be enjoyed are Veau braise ala Provençale (braised veal in a tomato broth) and Beef bourguignon amongst others, along with perfectly prepared vegetable dishes such as Chou-fleur a la Mornay gratin (cauliflower au gratin with cheese) and Butternut squash boulangere (butternut braised with bacon and onion).

Sweet cravings are more than satisfied with a decadent selection of treats like Baked French toast with pecan crumble; Hot vanilla custard and fresh cream; Ganache tart; Reine de Saba (traditional French sponge cake); Croquembouche and Paris-Brest.

The French Buffet is available every Wednesday in February, from 18h00 to 22h00. The cost is R149 per person. Booking is essential on (041) 507 7793.
