FALSE ALARM: SA Airlink denies Wonderboom flight hijacking

JULY 11, 2016

Public airline, SA Airlink, on Monday denied rumours that flooded social media claiming that one of its planes had been hijacked en-route from Cape Town to Wonderboom airport on Monday morning. The aircraft had 72 passengers and four crew members, who are reportedly safe.

The airline said in a tweet that the hijack alert for the flight "appears to be an anomaly". It is believed the radar system sent out an incorrect signal.

"We have been in contact with our pilots & can confirm that no hijacking has taken place," SA Airlink earlier confirmed.
