First Avenue Guesthouse: the perfect all-round conference package

BY MATTHEW COLLINS - JANUARY 21, 2015

First Avenue Guesthouse is a boutique-style B&B situated in the upmarket beachfront suburb of Summerstrand.  The conferencing venue (with break-away rooms) can accommodate up to 30 guests and has hosted multiple trade shows, small-business meetings, presentations, training sessions, as well as off-site corporate meetings.

This venue is well-equipped to facilitate the smooth and successful running of any event in an intimate and relaxed setting.  The air-conditioned venue provides free wifi, data projector with AV equipment and screen, whiteboard and flip chart.

A spacious guest lounge is also available for use before, after and between meetings.  The lovely outdoor area, with a beautiful garden and pool, provides a peaceful atmosphere for those wishing to take a breather.

Refreshments are provided before and during the conference in the guesthouse dining room.  An a-la-carte English breakfast prior to the meeting can also be arranged.  Various catering menus are available for a tailor-made conference package.  This allows for flexibility when arranging a conference at First Avenue Guesthouse.

For post-conference entertainment, the guesthouse offers various amenities including a braai and a bar area.  This allows for team building and socialising after the day’s meeting.

Accommodation is provided on site with elegant, daily-serviced guest rooms.  Each room offers an en-suite bathroom, kitchenette (with crockery, cutlery and appliances), flat-screen television (with hotel DSTV bouquet) as well as private entrance.

To further facilitate tranquillity and peace of mind, the guesthouse is under 24-hour surveillance and is protected by all-night security. The lodge takes into consideration any guests or delegates who might be flying in from other locations in that airport transfers can be efficiently arranged.

In addition to First Avenue Guesthouse being a great conferencing venue and offering superb four star accommodation, its location is worth noting.  The Boardwalk Casino, Conference and Entertainment Complex is around the corner.  The complex has a movie centre, many great restaurants and shops as well as a games centre for the children. Shark Rock Pier, off Hobie Beach, is within walking distance as well as Port Elizabeth’s other Blue-Flag beaches Humewood and King’s Beach.  The guesthouse is also in close proximity to some of the Bay’s finest restaurants and local tours to neighbouring game lodges and reserves and the city’s tourist attractions can be arranged.
