Lady Frere police have confirmed the re-arrest of five awaiting trail prisoners who escaped from the Glen Grey police station last Friday.

In a statement, police spokesperson, Lieutenant Namhla Mdleleni said the men, aged 19-30, were taken into custody on Sunday after a detailed investigation by members of the police’s Task Force.

The men, along with four accomplices, managed to escape after overpowering the on-duty police officer by asking him for water. The search for the missing men is still continuing.

Mdleleni said the re-captured five appeared in the Lady Frere Magistrate’s Court on Monday and would remain behind bars until January 11th
