Five expected in Mthatha court after mob killed suspected carjacker

Five suspects, aged between 25 and 30, are expected in the Mthatha Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, on charges of murder following the attack and murder of 23 year-old Wandile Makheba.

"It is alleged that the deceased was murdered by a group of community members because he was accused of carjacking on the 16 March in Zimbane Valley, Mthatha," said police spokesperson Warrant Officer Dineo Koena.

"Within hours of the incident being reported to the police, one suspect was arrested at Zimbane Valley. Police investigations led to the arrest of the other four on the 18 March - again at Zimbane Valley." 

Mthatha Cluster Commander, Major General Sizakhele Dyantyi condemned the incident that led to the murder of the alleged hijacker.
