Five suspects appear in Port Elizabeth courts for armed hijacking and robbery

Port Elizabeth police continue to make a dent in crime with five suspects appearing court on Monday on unrelated charges of armed hijacking and armed business robbery from incidents that happened on Sunday.

In one case, the Port Elizabeth Flying Squad arrested four suspects, aged between 28 and 37 years, for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and the possession of suspected stolen property.

The suspects were detained at New Brighton SAPS and appeared in court on Monday where they were remanded in custody.

In another case, on Sunday afternoon, the Port Elizabeth K9 Unit responded to an armed robbery in progress in Durban Road, Korsten, where one suspect was arrested for armed robbery.

One gas replica firearm was siezed by police.

The suspect appeared in court and was also remanded in custody.
