SEPTEMBER 15, 2016

Five teenagers, four boys and a girl, are expected to appear in the juvenile court at the Nerina Place of Safety and Detention in Port Elizabeth on Thursday in connection with the hijacking and murder of 53 year-old Magda van Vuuren in Adcockvale on Monday afternoon.

This is after Port Elizabeth police late on Tuesday afternoon announced that the Mount Road visible policing unit had arrested two more boys, aged 15 and 16, at Westview High School where all the suspects are learners.

Two other boys and a girl were already in custody after police swiftly moved to apprehend the suspects.

According to Port Elizabeth police, van Vuuren, who was visiting her mother in Adcockvale, was shot in the back and her old boxer-type BMW stolen.

She was rushed to Livingstone Hospital where she died soon after arrival.

Police circulated a description of the hijacked vehicle and a breakthrough came when PE Flying Squad members spotted it at the Engen Garage in Blue Water Bay on Monday evening.

A 16 year-old boy as well as a 15 year-old schoolgirl, who was in the car with him, were promptly arrested.

A firearm was also seized by the police.
