FLAVOURSOME: Enjoy delicious food and choice at Flavours Coffee Shop

When the opportunity arose to visit the recently opened Flavours Coffee Shop in Main Road, Walmer, in PE, I wasted little time in visiting as I desperately needed a moment to relax and enjoy a sit-down lunch.

Having been informed that we were to go with full wallets, it quickly become obvious to my work colleague and I why this was so. Indeed, stepping inside upon our arrival, we noticed the shelves were stacked with packets containing an assortment of cookies, fudges, peanut clusters and coconut ice to name but a few.

We eventually managed to pry ourselves from the shelves, before selecting our table in the middle of the room, where we met up with Flavours owner, Richard Moore. He explained that their relocation from Lorraine to Walmer, in May this year, was a good business move.

“Not only have we managed to retain most of our old clients, some of whom are prepared to drive from Lorraine to Walmer, but we have been seeing new faces coming through the door,” said Richard.

At this point, our menus arrived and we ordered our drinks which consisted of a hot chocolate for me and a cup of coffee for my colleague. What also became apparent, is the variety of choices on the menu, ranging from toasted sandwiches and tramezzini’s, to breakfasts and light lunches, all under R50!

With our orders placed, Richard also explained that their core focus has been on providing various products to small-scale businesses as well as big chain stores

“Currently, we mostly supply fudges and hertzoggies to selected petrol stations and tuck shops with our biggest clients being Nanaga, Spar and Food Lover’s Market. We also have distribution points ranging from East London to as far as Mossel Bay,” he said.

Chat finished, our meals, consisting of a chicken and mayo tramezzini topped with mozzarella and a side serving of salad, and quiche with salad, arrived. Warmed-up from our drinks, we tucked in and were immediately impressed. My tramezzini was especially tasty and crunchy while my colleague described her quiche as having a tasty flavour, complimented by a fresh salad.

Having settled the bill, which came to only R109, we emptied our wallets as we stocked up on a varied selection of cookies and fudges.
