Foreign shop-owner arrested by Port Elizabeth police for illegal firearm

A foreign national is expected in a Port Elizabeth court soon after he was arrested by Port Elizabeth police with an unlicensed firearm.

"Yesterday, 20 April,  at about 21:30, the Port Elizabeth Flying Squad and K9 Unit followed up on information received about an unlicensed firearm," the police said in a short statement.

"A foreign national was arrested in Veeplaas [near Bethelsdorp in Port Elizabeth] with an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

"A 9mm pistol was found in the suspect's shop. He was arrested and detained."
