Foreigners busted in East London for stealing R100 000 in liquor and cigarettes

SAPS Cambridge Task Team members arrested two foreign nationals, in their 30’s, following an alleged break-in at a liquor store in Amalinda, East London on the night of 17 April.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Mluleki Mbi; "The suspects entered through the roof before getting stealing  a large quantity of expensive liquor and cigarettes estimated over R100 000."

Cpt Mbi said that the arrest is believed to be a breakthrough as there has been a number of similar incidents in the Cambridge policing precinct in recent times.  More arrests are expected.

The acting Mdantsane cluster commander, Brigadier Nomso Siganga has welcomed the arrests.

“We are  confident that we will always have an upper hand in any criminal element that is facing us,” said Siganga.

The arrested suspects will appear before the East London magistrate’s court on Monday facing charges of business burglary.
