Four arrested in major N2 dagga bust

Port Elizabeth police have arrested four suspects and seized two trucks following a major dagga bust on the N2 yesterday. In a statement, police spokesperson Warrant Officer Gerda Swart said members of the Port Elizabeth K9 unit and Flying Squad reacted on a tip-off, and arrested three suspects after 8.5 kg’s of dagga was found in a truck heading for Grahamstown.

Not long after, police also arrested a 27-year old suspect after 25 bags of dagga, worth an estimated R667 000, was found in the back of a supermarket delivery truck some 40 km outside Port Elizabeth. Swart said it was believed that the truck was bound for George when it got pulled over.

The driver was expected to appear Hankey Magistrate's Court later today while the three others will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
