Fourth suspect in Kabega Park woman's murder surrenders to police

SEPTEMBER 14, 2015

A fourth suspect, arrested in the robbery and murder of 78-year-old Denise Webber of Kabega Park on the 20th of August, is expected to appear in the St Albans Court on Monday.

According to police, the 28 year-old man surrendered himself to Kabega Park police on Friday, accompanied by his lawyer.

Police said that because of their unrelenting pursuit of the suspect, he had found that he could not hide anywhere anymore.

The arrest means all four men believed to be behind Webber's murder are now in custody.

The 28 year-old suspect's alleged accomplices, Fikile Mengo, Mkhuselo Mcqanda and Thanduxolo Vumazonke are expected in court on September 16 for a formal bail hearing.

Mengo and Ngqanda were arrested on Friday and Saturday after one of the suspects handed himself over to the police in August.

Vumazonke, who is a relative of alleged hitman Sizwezakhe Vumazonke, who is in custody for allegedly killing Port Elizabeth teacher Jayde Panayiotou in April, was the third suspect to be arrested.

It has also emerged that Mcqanda is linked to five house robbers in the Walmer area of Port Elizabeth and to a brutal farm attack in East London in June. The farmer's hand was hacked off.

Vumazonke, Mengo and Mcqanda have so far appeared in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court.
