OCTOBER 19, 2015

Port Elizabeth man, Martin Stevens, who went on the run after he allegedly stabbed his estranged second wife multiple times last Wednesday evening, has apparently handed himself in to custody at the Mount Road police station on Monday morning. Stevens was accompanied by his lawyer.

Meanwhile, his wife, Anne-Marie Stevens, is currently fighting for her life at Livingstone Hospital.

Anna-Marie's sister, Marthie Michau, told News24, that the couple was in the process of getting a divorce after she had accused him of strangling her months before. Marthie said Anna-Marie was paralysed from the waist down after the attack.

Fifteen years ago, in 2000, Martin was acquitted of killing his first wife, Johanna, a nurse in Port Elizabeth.

Police had been looking for Stevens for the past four days.
