FUN, FITNESS & BUSINESS: Investec Night Relay is back by popular demand
Back by popular local demand, the third annual Investec Night Relay, the race around the North End Lake at the magnificent Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, is set to rock on the evening of 7 March - the first of three events scheduled for the every first Thursday evening of March, April and May.
Event organisers are looking to build on the success of last year’s event which saw almost two hundred teams competing in both the running and walking competitions in 4km laps around the North End Lake.
“We can expect to see this figure increase by at least 50% as the Night Relay has moved away from the winter months and will also include a Castle Lite Beer Garden for companies to socialise after the event,” says event organiser Michael Zoetmulder.
Backed by Investec and supported by Bargain Buys, Crickley Dairy, EC Traffic Service, News Cafe, Frontier Events and All-in-One rentals, the relay also provides sponsoring businesses with better marketing return on investment through various opportunities to draw positive attention to their brands such as flyers, word-of-mouth and other media coverage.
The relay starts at six in the evening with the last relay participants being sent off 1hr 45min later if they haven’t already gone in order to complete in time for prize giving where floating trophies and medals are awarded each evening to the winning teams in each category together with a host of appealing lucky draws including R1000 cash.
“We are appealing to all companies in the Nelson Mandela Bay surrounds to participate in the Investec Night Relay as it offers a wonderful morale boosting event which improves staff motivation and/or communication within the workplace.
“The event, hospitality and fellowship which follow each race evening provide a great corporate platform for staff to get to know each other on a more social basis,” says Zoetmulder.
While the Investec Night Relay promotes health and physical fitness within the workplace as well as offering a sense of pride and achievement for employees, the Rotary Club of PE Sunrise uses the event as a fundraiser for its various charity activities through the proceeds from the beer garden.
Online registration are open at www.investecnightrelay.co.za, with late entries accepted on race days at Lakeside alongside the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. For further information you can contact Zports on 041 484 7860.
