Gangland Port Elizabeth: police investigate several shootings in two days

Three people were gunned down and three more injured on Friday and Saturday in suspected gang shootings in Port Elizabeth's Northern Areas.

Police are investigating the murder of a 48-year-old man from Gelvandale, who shot dead in his garage on Friday afternoon.

It is believed the man was busy inside the garage, where he has a little shop, when a lone gunman approached him and opened fire. Three shots were fired fatally wounding the victim.

That same morning, a man was gunned down outside the Gelvandale Magistrates Court. According to police, 33-year-old Elton Fritz had just made a brief court appearance on a personal matter, when he was shot dead moments afterwards while getting into his car.

The suspect fled in a white Toyota Tazz.

On Saturday, an alleged gang leader was shot dead in his house in Bethelsdorp.

The 33-year-old man was with two male friends aged 27 and 31 respectively, and an 18-year-old girl, when a lone gunman opened fire at them. Eleven shots were fired hitting everybody in the house.

While the girl was wounded in the knee, the two men were shot in their arms, legs and ankles.

The alleged gang leader had multiple gun shot wounds to his upper body and was declared dead upon arriving at hospital.

Police are also looking for three armed suspects, who attempted to shoot dead a 23-year-old man and his friend in Bloemendal on Saturday night.

The suspects are believed to have fired eleven shots at the two me, who escaped uninjured.
