Garden Route hit by power outage due to storms

JUNE 2, 2015

George and other surrounding towns in the Garden Route area have reportedly been hit by power outages due to stormy weather as heavy rain and strong winds lashed large parts of the region over the past few days.

Municipality spokesperson, Chantel Edwards-Klose, told the SABC that they are doing everything they can to assist affected communities.

While power has been restored to the New Dawn Park area, which was off due to an 11 000-volt cable fault caused by suspected ingress of water due to heavy rainfall, portions of Hansmoeskraal and Herold's Bay were still without power.

Staff have reportedly had to patrol the line on foot to locate the fault because it is inaccessible for vehicles.
